Optical Sensors: Key Technology for the Autonomous Car
نویسنده
چکیده
Autonomously driven cars will combine a variety of technologies in the future, in order to keep an eye on their surroundings and driver at all times and respond appropriately. While fully autonomous driving is still limited to prototypes today, the first partly independently acting assistant systems are already in use on our roads. Optical sensors based on infrared lasers and LEDs are one of the key technologies for today’s -and tomorrow’s -intelligent systems to gradually ease the burden on the driver.

Controlling UAVs with Sensor Input Spoofing Attacks
There has been a recent surge in interest in autonomous robots and vehicles. From the Google self-driving car, to autonomous delivery robots, to hobbyist UAVs, there is a staggering variety of proposed deployments for autonomous vehicles. Ensuring that such vehicles can plan and execute routes safely is crucial. The key insight of our paper is that the sensors that autonomous vehicles use to na...
متن کاملProximal object and hazard detection for autonomous underwater vehicle with optical fibre sensors
This paper describes short range and tactile optical fibre sensors for marine applications. The sensors are designed for obstacle avoidance on unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) operating in confined spaces, but have other possible applications. The fibre sensors augment the sensory abilities derived from ultrasonic and other sensors employed for marine proximity measurement. Of particular int...
متن کاملIntegration of Chemical Sensors with LSI Technology - History and Applications -
Chemical sensors are one of the oldest fields of research closely related to the semiconductor technology. From the IonSensitive Field-Effect Transistors (ISFET) in the 70’s, through MicroElectro-Mechanical-System (MEMS) sensors from the end of the 80’s, chemical sensors are combining in the 90’s MEMS technology with LSI intelligence to devise more selective, sensitive and autonomous devices to...

This paper presents a procedure to perform fully autonomous on orbit alignment of the interferometer on board the LISA technology package (LTP). LTP comprises two freefloating test masses as inertial sensors that additionally serve as end-mirrors of a set of interferometers. From the output signals of the interferometers, a subset has been selected to obtain alignment information of the test ma...
